Cookies and similar technologies
Last updated: 18 July 2026
Kiddonido uses a small number of cookies and similar browser storage entries to run the site, remember choices you make on this device, measure how the site is used, and — only if you opt in — display embedded Google Maps. This page lists exactly what is used, what is optional, and how to change your choice at any time. Some items on this page are stored in localStorage rather than cookies; they are labelled accordingly.
Your current choice
You haven't made a choice yet. Only strictly necessary items are used until you decide.
Categories we use
Strictly necessary
Required to run the site, keep you signed in, and remember your consent choice. Cannot be turned off. Includes the first-party consent cookie kd_consent_v1 and the sign-in token that Kiddonido's authentication stores as sb-<project>-auth-token in localStorage for signed-in users only.
Preferences
Persists items you saved on this device — favorites, the comparison bar, and parent-profile form values — under the littlelocal:* keys in localStorage. Before you opt in, these values are kept only in the current tab's memory and are discarded when you close the tab.
Analytics
Sends product usage events (page views, category clicks, searches) to Kiddonido's own backend. Sensitive fields such as email addresses and phone numbers are masked before events are sent. No third-party analytics network is used. Events are dropped entirely before you opt in.
External media (Google Maps)
Loads embedded maps from Google Maps, operated by Google Ireland Limited as an independent controller. Google may set its own cookies and process your IP address. Until you turn this on, all map surfaces render a static placeholder and no request is sent to Google.
Detailed inventory
| Name | Type | Category | Party | Purpose | Created when | Before consent | Duration | If you withdraw |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| kd_consent_v1 | Cookie | Strictly necessary | First party (Kiddonido) | Remembers which optional cookie categories you accepted or rejected so the banner does not reappear on every page. | When you make any choice in the consent banner or preference center. | Not written until you interact with the banner. | 180 days. | Choosing Reject all or opening the preference center and un-ticking categories overwrites this cookie with the new decision. |
| sb-<project>-auth-token | localStorage | Strictly necessary | First party (Kiddonido / auth) | Stores your sign-in session so you stay logged in as you move between pages. | Only when you sign in. | Not written for signed-out visitors. | Until you sign out or the session expires. | Signing out removes it. It is not controlled by the optional cookie categories because it is required to keep an authenticated session working. |
| littlelocal:favorites | localStorage | Preferences | First party (Kiddonido) | Remembers activities and partners you have marked as favorites so they stay saved between visits on this device. | The first time you favorite something. | Held only in this tab's memory. Refreshing or closing the tab discards it. Nothing is written to your device. | Until you clear it or remove browser data. | Turning off Preferences removes this key from localStorage. Signed-in account favorites are unaffected. |
| littlelocal:comparison-v2 | localStorage | Preferences | First party (Kiddonido) | Remembers the items you added to the comparison bar so the selection survives navigation and refreshes. | The first time you add an item to compare. | In-tab memory only. | Until you clear the comparison or remove browser data. | Removed from localStorage when Preferences is turned off. |
| littlelocal:comparison-saved | localStorage | Preferences | First party (Kiddonido) | Preserves a previously saved comparison so you can return to it. | When you save a comparison. | In-tab memory only. | Until you clear it or remove browser data. | Removed from localStorage when Preferences is turned off. |
| littlelocal:parent-preferences | localStorage | Preferences | First party (Kiddonido) | Remembers the values you enter in the parent-profile form (child age, preferred categories, languages, location, budget) so you do not have to re-enter them. | When you save values in the parent profile. | In-tab memory only. | Until you clear the profile or remove browser data. | Removed from localStorage when Preferences is turned off. |
| Product analytics events | Runtime script | Analytics | First party (Kiddonido) | Sends usage events (which page was viewed, which category was clicked, which search terms were used, with PII fields masked) to Kiddonido's own backend so we can improve the site. | When Analytics is enabled and you use the site. | No analytics event is sent. Calls are dropped client-side. | Events are stored server-side on Kiddonido's backend; no third-party analytics network is used. | Turning off Analytics stops future events immediately. |
| Google Maps embed | Runtime script | External media | Third party (Google Ireland Limited) | Loads embedded maps and map tiles from Google. Google may set its own cookies and process your IP address as an independent controller. | Only after External media is enabled and you visit a page with a map. | The Google Maps script is not injected. A static placeholder is shown instead of the map. | For the current page session in your browser. Google's own cookies are governed by Google's policies. | Turning off External media prevents future map loads and restores the placeholder. A Google Maps script that already loaded during the current session stays in memory until you refresh or close the tab. |
Links you can click
Kiddonido lists provider websites and offers direct actions such as calling a phone number, opening WhatsApp, or getting directions. These are ordinary outbound links — they do not load any third-party resources into Kiddonido until you deliberately click them, and so they are not consent-gated on this site. What happens after you click depends on the destination and on your own device (for example, opening WhatsApp launches the WhatsApp app, and getting directions opens your preferred maps app).
Third parties
The only third party that receives requests from this site is Google Ireland Limited, and only after you enable External media. All other functionality — authentication, images, product analytics, and forms — is handled by Kiddonido's own backend infrastructure.
Reopening cookie settings and withdrawing consent
You can change your choice at any time using the control on this page or the Cookie settings link in the site footer. Choosing Withdraw all consent clears your saved decision and reopens the consent banner on the next page load.
